Talking Google Earth DTRS Colorado Maps?

I saw the Thread on the DTRS mapping project, It was great!

Does anyone know a way to import those coordinates into a Google Earth Map? I'd be willing to plot a few sites.

I thought it would make a cool setup to have all the sites bookmarked in Google Earth.

See the http://www.gmra.org/n0nhp/dtrs.htm for a list of the coordinates.

Cheers,

Casey

Default Google Earth Start

I started to plot some of the sites on Google Earth.

You will need to download Google Earth from earth.google.com its a free mapping program.

Once you have that, you can simply paste the coordinates in from n0nhp's list and it will take you to the site.

I have only been able to do this one at a time, I wonder if you can bulk import them...?

Also, According to my placemark for site 101, seems to be off a bit.

Cheers,

Casey

PS - Thanks for all the hard work of collecting those site coordinates! attached is a sample with about 5-6 sites loaded

Some DTRS files for Google Maps have already been posted here in the past. You might want to check the past message threads.

PS - Thanks for all the hard work of collecitng those site coordinates!

As I pointed out in the thread, Most of the coordinates were taken directly from the FCC license information.

If you have a gps-ed coordinate on the tower I am more that open to updating the file.
I suppose I need to get active on that file again anyhow, we have added 5 or 6 sites since it was made.
(sigh)

OK, bad form, I am posting two replies in a row--- however.

It seems that importing the database into MapSource may have corrupted a couple of the waypoints. I am in the process of manually opening each waypoint and checking it for accuracy.

I also upgraded MapSource to version 6.12.2 , it uses a newer .gdb file. That is the version I will have on my web site. The upgrade is free for Garmin users and I recommend it. www.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp
That said, if you have the older version and want to stay with it, drop me an email and I will save the file off in the older version and send it to you.

No worries about bad form I answered my own question on the post... ;-)

I'll have to check out MapSource. I have a Garmin 120, I was under the impression that you had to buy MapSource seperately.

I think the waypoint on site 101 was just a bit south of the actual Admin building, not a big deal. I can adjust it on my plots.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Casey
