Web service changes - Software Upgrades Required for Users
Folks,
Today, we are turning off the "old" legacy Web service which allows applications to automatically download data from the database. We've had a newer "SOAP" based Web service in place for quite a while, however some versions of applications still are using the old method.
If you are running an older version of a Scanner Programming Software application, you might be affected.
This post should help guide you in the right direction in terms of upgrading so that you aren't affected.
Don Star with StarSoft has updated all of his applications, please see:
Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control
Butel's applications have been updated, please see:
RR changes
PSREdit
PSREdit - Configuration Editors for the new GRE line of scanners
Proscan
Proscan Already supports the latest Web service... see the following URL for possible updates that might be required:
ProScan
Freescan
See the following URL for updates:
ScanNow.org - The Home of FreeSCAN!
Bctool
Bctool hasn't been updated in over a year, so right now this application does not support the new Web service. We don't have any further information or details right now on this application.
---
I'll add further as we receive updates....
Again, make sure that you upgrade your software packages ASAP.

Will this affect how Freescan operates and interacts with the RadioReference Web Services? Do I need to get an updated version of Freescan (I just downloaded my version last week, I think it is the most recent version)?

OK, I know I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. Especially when it comes to programming my BCT-15 with my computer. So here it goes, After midnight tonight I will not be able to program my BCT-15 with BcTool using RR database. Is this a correct statement. Go easy guys and thanks for your time........Ray

I could be wrong on this, but I believe Assof has used the SOAP interface from the beginning.

Why all these changes? Is someone looking to make more money off this? I tried to update win500 and it is telling me to go to 2 different web sites to purchase more software, WTF!

Mr Blake,
No one is looking to make more money off this... This process is a natural transition to new technology. If you are a licensed user of Win500 - you can download the updates on Starsoft's web site for free.
Take a deep breath, go download the update, and install it.

That is correct. FreeScan uses the SOAP interface, so those users should see no changes.

I'm not sure what software you would need to buy. The Win500 upgrade is free. Microsoft distributes their .NET files (files now needed by the new RRLib.DLL I created) for free.
What web page is directing you to buy more software, and what software is it telling you to buy?

Thanks to LouMaag and Ka3jjz for addressing my concerns about using FreeScan with the new RR Web Service updates. It's great to know that I can continue to use Freescan in conjunction with this wonderful site! Thanks guys!

Arc500
Why isnt the program ARC500 not working with the import from radio reference? I know there was a new update and requires programs to be updated. My problem is that i have seen in a couple places it says here is the list of programs update and compatible with the new system and ARC500 was in the list....I am sorry but it isnt compatible and there has been no update to that software. Its still the same old version 1.12 version 6. My software worked the other day but it dont know. I have the latest software version. There needs to be a update to this program. I just paid for this software less than 2 weeks ago and the damn thing dont even work. Why hasnt there been a fix to this software ARC500 yet? Win500 already got a fix and works so why not arc500. Please help

As stated by you (and Butel) Ver 1.12 build 6 is the current version of the software for using the SOAP interface. Are you sure there isn't something else going on?

I don't have Win500 but I do have Win96 and version 1.61 of that software works just fine for importing, I just re-verified that this 10 minutes ago. Do you have the Microsoft .NET files necessary for this software (as well as hundreds of other pieces of current software) to run installed on your computer? As Don pointed out earlier, they are free for the download from Microsoft; if you were using Microsoft Update, all of this software would have been installed automatically ages ago. I suspect once you get the .NET support installed on your computer, your problem will go away.

I know there isnt anything else going on. It was working the day before yesterday and its the same thing i had when i paid for it and it worked but after the change took place yesterday it quit. I followed the link where it states here is the free upgrade and all it does is want to reinstall the same damn version and setup i already have in there. This is a bunch of crap....the old saying if it aint broke dont fix it so why did they even bother. It was fine before. There is 2 things that need to happen and thats either a fix and my program start working, or a refund of my money. I already sent messages to Butel about the issue as well but it says they are on vacation leave till the 15 of august and started that on the 23rd of july lol......what company or business leaves for 3 weeks for vacation that crazy. Anway all i know is this ARC500 program is worthless now since the change over

Confirmed that Arc500 1.12 build 6 gives a 'RadioRefDisconnected' error after de-installing and re-installing on 2 separate PC's.
Also - Arc396, Arc996 return the same message after re-installing the latest from Butels site (and link) acknowledging the RR DB change yesterday.
Currently - Arc-XT connects and works fine on both machines.

Web Service Changes
Win 500 works, but is very "sluggish". Any ideas?
Thanks!

Also confirm that ARC500 V1.12 Build 6 full version - the version linked on BuTel as well as Scanner Master - is the same version that was released in February of this year - it DOES NOT WORK. I also uninstalled/reinstalled new download file from each site to no avail.
ARC250 update works but is much slower than before.
