Default Providence, RI - Providence Fire Department switching to statewide radio system

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — At 8 a.m. Tuesday, the Fire Department will switch over for good to the 800 MHz radio frequency. That means it will be using a new digital microwave communications system that promises to keep first responders in close contact throughout any local, regional or statewide emergency.

I just completed the testing of the new radio for the Live Feed. The audio sounds OK, but I'll probably be tweaking it a bit over the next few days, as I switched it from a dedicated VHF radio to a Pro-2096, and I want to get it right.
