Speaking from personal experience....

My Dad lives in Virginia and when I have visited him in the past, I have monitored the police here and there...the fire dept, and all sorts of other stuff. The public safety folks there either speak a language all their own or they need English lessons. I say this because I cannot ever understand anything they say unless it happens to be someone with a VERY stable tone of voice who speaks clearly and without slurring their speech.

Maybe they should learn how to speak before considering a new system. "This is Billy Jim Bob Simon Dexter in car 2, I'm a go up ta da ___ (insert silly named for a place here), tin fer?"

Question

Thank you for deciding that the people of VA. need English diction lessons. Perhaps you have no accent or no axe to grind but I doubt it. People around this country don't even speak English and you have issues about their speech in VA?

And now back to the topic. The STARS system is being built out and will at least give them a statewide radio system.

Wow Daniel, it's nice to know you are "learning" from personal experience and not judging the Commonwealth as a whole by one geographic location. Maybe you should stay in Chicago and leave us folks in Virginia alone.

Maybe they were trying to save taxpayers money by trying to come up with a different way to encrypt what they say, by talking in jibberish or what ever. ha ha.
