Solution? FCC should resume regulating spectrum usage instead of promoting it. The first step would be for them to learn the phrase, "You don't need radio to do that."

The question is more like "Do you really need to be yapping away on a cell phone every waking minute, everywhere you go annoying people, not to mention putting lives at risk with your erratic driving?"

Phone companies have been pushing mobile so hard they've let land line voice and DSL fall by the wayside as an afterthought, poor service and lack of proper maintenance has made that painfully obvious. Now they've bitten off more than they can chew and the candle is burning at both ends toward the middle.

Cue Led Zeppelin, Communications Breakdown.

The spectrum "crisis" is only partially due to cellphone yapping. There are an awful lot of other things being done over RF links that could be done with other technologies.
