Default Why are they just discovering this?

Why are they just becoming aware of this now?
Was someone just not paying attention at the Carlton, Mn. Comm center?
The 12.5 KHz rebanding has been discussed, NPRM'd, RM'd, etc, for several years and was mandated several years ago.
This will allow more users Channels in the crowded under 512 MHz Public safety bands.

Nothing new.

Just probably was below the radar of the county board.

Maybe, they(FCC) will extend this just like the Digital TV circus?

Non story here. ARMER has been up & running for somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 years. They knew it was coming their way about 4-5 years ago.

Sounds to me like a slow news day for the Pine Journal. My thoughts are the same as they were when Thunderbolt posted it..... What's the issue?

As I am finding out, a lot of agencies hoping for additional channels will be severly disappointed. Due to the oddity of VHF's spacing, most if not all by now of the frequency coordinators have decided that because the channel spacing doesn't give enough separation from each other, there will be very few if any additional VHF channels made available after the 2013 mandate. As far as the mandate, yes there are a lot of agencies taking a wait and see attitude. Hoping for a last minuite reprieve, like DTV. I see a big delay in 6.25kc but 12.5 is here to stay.
