Somehow they'll screw any new system up. RE: The FBI IT guy who locked the marshalls out, he needs to have his butt fired if that is true that he really kicked other federal users off the system.

Even in the federal system the territorial attitude says a lot for interoperability and how doomed we are for future systems working together especially when you have to deal with IT bean counters running the show, or should that be Ruining the show.

Was quite the eye-opener working with the DEA in NY recently when were we trying to scrape together parts to keep the original SABER radios running. Knobs and displays discontinued, OEM batteries are continuous backorder, quite the mess.

Serious these SABER radios have to be 20 years old, and still used hard everyday.

Something got to give soon.

Same in my area. The sabers are literally worn slick and shiny.

If anybody in charge of this boondoggle could have rubbed two brain cells together they should have made it a madatory condition for all the truck loads of money they've been giving away for all these statewide systems to include this integration, they're just now seeking to accomplish, in the first place.

Sorry, not to ruffle any feathers but I have had enough of our government spending money-and more money-and still more money without a care in the world. Enough is enough. Stop. Now. I am a former municipal police officer so no lectures or smart remarks on officer safety and the war on drugs, which we have been losing for years. Nothing wrong with conventional LMR. Keep the IT crap out of it, RF will travel just as fast from the latest whiz bang as does a plain jane analog HT. You want secure??? Go to cell phone, everyone else does. With all the money that would save, the geniuses who brought on this mess can afford to pay the lawyers to recover maybe 10% of what was wasted. Don't mind me, just another pissed off voter who has had enough.

Amen. It would be nice to see other projects given this much attention and funding. We don't really need someone in San Diego, CA being able to talk directly to someone in Bangor, ME. By the time you press all the buttons and rotate the dials needed on the radio you could have just made a phone call.
