If that's supposed to be a clickable link, it is broken.

It's works here. You have to open & read it with Adobe Reader.

It really doesn't. There's nothing to open. My guess is it's the same release in the dedicated thread.

Yes, it is. It's a copy of the letter GRE sent out that was scanned & saved as a .pdf

zzdiesel,
I will repeat what both rdale and gmclam say, there is no link in your post. There is an address, but no link. A link would be underlined in blue and clickable, neither of those is in your post. Read what people say, not what you think they say.

What makes you think it may double in price?
I don't get that feeling from anything said in this thread.
If you are really worried about that happening, order one now. Xmas is only 55 days away!

So where is this PDF? I have thought since the first announcement that not everything is being shared.

Okay so what I read from this statement from GRE is that they are having trouble with the Chinese government and their factory and taxes and so on and so on. Whatever the case is GRE will find another factory to build or take over and move operations somewhere else. Meantime they are commited to keep operations and support going moving forward and it gives them some more time with R&D on coming out with a great state of the art trunking scanner that will blow everybodies socks off and we will all be happy at the end of the day. Just be patience and let nature take its course.
I work for a company that builds high end fiber optic network adapters and we had a factory in China and Thailand and our factory got flooded by the big storm that hit Thailand and it took us a long time to find another factory and get operations up and going again. But everything eventually returned to normal and business as usual. Things happen which is out of our control but time will heal everything

This is the very press release that is in the very first post in this topic, including a link to the GRE press release. In addition, very shortly after the beginning of this thread, a link was provided to the press release on the GRE site.
What this shows me is that people would rather post irrelevant disruptive questions than look at the topic they are posting in for the answer. Do not continue to disrupt this announcement topic with already answered queries.

GRE America is gone..they are NOT coming back. I was the fist ones to tell my distributor in PA that they went under. My rep was so happy to hear that cuz they got a lot of returns. Poor squelch pot/intemod...the PSR-200u/PSR-120 is just JUNK! The Uniden BC AT-125 is MUCH better. Paul(Upman) wil have alot of new models coming in 2013. I am NOT sure about P-25 version 2 yet.

Separate threads
Mods, is there a way to have separate threads like this... - thread #1 (not open for regular commenting):
information/announcements from reliable/official sources that relate directly to GRE's current or future business status in the US and abroad
- thread #2 (open for regular commenting):
all other discussion/guessing about GRE's status, product-comparisons, etc.
...?
Thanks,

RS Pro-106 is back in stock Online and D2U again !
Just a curious note, for several months the RS Pro-106 was showing out of stock Online and the D2U method.
Then magically last week I noticed that the RS Pro-106 was BACK in stock Online and as well as D2U method.
This is GREat because as others have pointed out the RS Pro-106 will be included in the Black Friday sale !
So if you guys go to buy a Pro-106 and your store says "sorry we are out" then have them try Direct2U RS stock.
I keep an eye out every few days on D2U status changes of GRE scanners and wonder if this developement
signals that the RS/GRE factory wheels are either turning again or is this just a finally arrived batch from the old
factory in China ? For 2~3 months the RS/GRE Pro-163/164 models have NOT been available Online or D2U.
Thankfully, during all this time the RS/GRE Pro-197 has had no interuptions in being in stock both Online and D2U.

A couple of us have already asked for this. Hopefully it will happen. Also, they could send thread #2 to the tavern.

Another negative comment about GRE from a member who has never owned one.
Since migrating to the GRE PSR-800 and 410, I enjoy scanning again. GRE has not went under. If Uniden were to somehow end up my only option, I have purchased my last radio. I own many Uniden radios but can't imagine going back no matter how many new, frustrating, pull-your-hair-out units come out. To me, GRE has more than proven, there is a better and easier way of enjoying this hobby.

GRE America and the PSR 900
New member here, but reading the forums for years, I think that makes me a "lurker"?
Anyway, after stumbling onto the the GRE factory closure press release the other day and reviwing the 17(?) page thread on that topic I e-mailed the GRE America site inquiring on the status of the overdue PSR 900.
Just a few minutes ago I received a phone call(!) from Epi at GRE America in California assuring me that the Japanese factory is in fact relocating in Japan, the PSR 900 has been type-accepted by the FCC, production already began prior to the closure, the new factory is or will be up and running shortly and the PSR 900 will be available in the 1st quarter of 2013.
For what it's worth.
