does anybody have any info as if this sort of system will be encrypted or in the clear...??

This is the same company that rolled out the P25 system for the RCMP in Central Ontario:

Gatineau, Quebec, April 23, 2012 - Cassidian Communications, an EADS company, today announced that it has received a contract amendment to expand its existing digital, trunked P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network for public safety communications with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Unfortunately, that system is encrypted, but given the nature of RCMP comms, that would be expected.

Lol..
this is Montreal after all. ..if history is to repeat itself. .it could still be years away..
when the city installed the computers in the trucks they sat unused for 5 yrs until they got the program translated into french.
According to my contacts at the the municipal garage & DRMI this new system is not even on the radar. .BUT the contract for it has been signed
