WYTHEVILLE, Va. — Bad weather, age and wear have taken their toll on Floyd County’s emergency and police radio system, and the company that repairs it thinks a maintenance contract is in order.

Botetourt County to get new emergency radio system | roanoke.com

Boy is this post all screwed up! The header reades "WYTHEVILLE, Va" which is a town about 75 miles west of Botetourt County. Then it goes on to mention "Floyd County" which is about 40-50 miles southwest of Botetourt. It is true, Botetourt County Va. has appropriated funds for a system upgrade, but the geography of this original post is ALL screwed up.

Another political band aid....

I think it is important to point out that Botetourt is not getting a new radio system as it is being advertised. It is also important to understand that the system has been out of support by the vendor for years. It is being portrayed as if the Sheriff is taking a proactive approach to fixing the system which is simply not true since there have been major system components fail have not been available for purchase for years. Also, there has been a channel at a single site down for 9 months. This is only an upgrade to voting equipment and repeaters. Unfortunately this was not put out to bid and "sold" as sole source with continued poor maintenance.
