SAN FRANCISCO — It's been five years since the Golden Gate Bridge District began plans to convert its old analog radio system to digital and it has cost tens of millions of dollars, but the project is still not done. In fact, it may have had a setback.

20 million? What a waste. Does one bridge, and a bus system need a 20 million dollar trunked system? Even implemented, where's the "interoperability" with GG, SF County and Marin Counties?

Training needed to use a digital system? I guess there is probably going to be a new channel configuration, but I would like to know why changing to digital modulation is going to make a difference to the user. They select a channel and push a mic button. Whether their voice is transmitted digitally or is analog is something removed from the user.
