Default BCD396XT CSP settings

Hi
I'd like to make sure my scanner settings are correct to get the best reception I can of the CSP system. I get it pretty good but I still get some motor boating or machine gunning or whatever it's called now.
I have my hold time at 1, my wait time at 0.
Does anyone have any other settings I can use? like 'END CODE" I have it on analog +digital. Is that OK or for some reason should it be set at "ignore"?
Thanks for any help
BTW I've done the latest firmware upgrade for the XT

I only have the 396D but those things u mentioned wont get rid of motor-boarding. I found the updates did the best in doing that. what number is your p25 auto going to? I forget technical name. But CSP should be like 11,12,13. And how is your signal strength? How many bars? I find if I have less then 1-2 bars I get motor boarding. I dont know how many people have this model yet.

I'd suggest posting the question in the Uniden forum which is monitored by the Uniden product manager for these scanners.

If you're using it while mobile your reception is going to suffer due to the fact that CSP uses a multi site system so there's a struggle between which tower to lock on to. If you're stationary and still having the problem, there's a setting you can try. I'm not sure if the 396XT has it as an option but on the 996T you can adjust how many miliseconds the scanner waits before opening the squelch when receiving a digital audio transmission. Cranking that number up to 800 or so will deal with the majority of motorboating issues though it may impact the first second of the actual audio.

Motor-boating (also known as "motor boarding" -- a scanner torture technique) can be prevented by setting your digital channels' audio setting to Digital Only.

Just a follow up.....
I switched the "AUDIO SETTING" to Digital Only as UPMan suggested and I haven't heard any motor boarding on Connecticut State Police or Greenwich since !!!
Thanks UPMan for jumping in and thanks to awasser1, jnewell and andy404ns for their help also!

Just a reminder that Greenwich is using both analog and digital now.
