Default Bridgeport PD

I was down around BPD the other day and allot of the officers now have the XTS2500 radios; I’m told they are swapping out all the old radios for the new ones. The cop I talked to said they were using Zone B in the radios right now as Zone A will be the new zone when the system goes in service in December.
All the Zone A PD channels except 1 are encrypted and he said they use Zone A channel 4 sometimes now so no one can hear them, it is a simplex channel.

What a joke and waste of money. Most of your criminals are too stupid to use a scanner anyway. And by the time pd gets there, they're gone, cuz either they have a look out or hear the sirens most likely.

Sometimes listening to the depts, I think they want the encryption so the public doesn't know how stupid some of them sound. One can only wonder what type of language is gong to be used now that no one can hear them. But... Ah, darn, they still record all traffic. But wait, that won't stop some of them from making remarks.

shawn

PS. I think there was a case of that in Indianappolis last year or something that was posted on here.

Did the Bridgeport FD get the XTS2500 radios also or is that only the PD that is getting them?
