Millstone Power Station will be conducting sound level tests on the 79 new sirens within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone from Monday, June 22, through Thursday, July 2.
The sirens will be tested one-at-a-time over the two-week period (no more than 1 siren will be tested at one time) to ensure they function properly and meet required decibel levels. The specific sound mode used for the tests will be the ALERT tone - the steady tone used to alert the public to any kind of emergency. The duration of testing on a given siren is expected to be from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Initial tests results may warrant an additional test in cases of tests deemed invalid due to excessive background noise or if the results are not as expected for whatever reason.
Dominion is in the process of placing public notifications in the New London Day and will also be contacting area radio and possibly TV stations to provide information for public announcements.
I have provided a link to the Millstone Guide Book. For more information on the Emergency Alert System (EAS), refer to pages 5 and 6 of the guide book.

Wonder if we will hear additional activity on the Millstone trunked system? There's only a couple of ID'ed talkgroups.
