Default Groton / New London

Anyone know who is using 164.1500 with a PL of 114.8 and Speech Inversion scrambling.

Caught it R9 down in New London this past weekend.

Google shows a couple references to the FBI out of Exeter, RI as a simulcast of 167.6000. Very possible considering the tropo we've been having. I've picked up NYC a couple times, even on UHF. I'll plug it in and see if I hear anything.

Thanks but the FBI uses 167.9 Hz when Analog
and CT has converted [long ago] to P25 using
a NAC of $167 or $293 [depending on the purposes]

164.1500 was the New Hampshire FBI input for years, never Reported
in souther New England.

PS, that list is from Pre 1980's that you found on Google, the FBI has been using 12.5 Khz outputs since the mid 80's in the 167-168 Range

It is also used by various US Forest Service Stations.
The Odd part is the use of the Analog Speech Inversion
for the encryption. Very unusual for a Federal Agency.

Well, it was worth a try. I've had it plugged in all day but have not picked anything up yet. Could have been a temporary use. Was it rolling code or single code?

See if you get a PL on 152.4500 Mhz, due to something picked up here [Boston area] in the big city, I'm wondering if we have an Image vs actually hearing 164.1500 Mhz

It could be coming from the Sub Base or the USGC Academy area. Just throwing that out there if there is speech inversion, dunno for sure though.

Thanks to all for the help, it was an image of a TAXI from 152.4500
on my GRE-600

First time, I have had VHF images [besides intermod] and most of my Taxi's in Boston are UHF

Ah, yes. I believe that is Harry's Taxi out of New London. Callsign WPLV681. Expired. Their new callsign is WQJF802 but with a new frequency of 152.93. Have not heard anything on the new frequency.
