Default CSP and a 2096

I am getting a RS 2096 and i am wondering what is the best way to monitor the CSP for new haven and fairfield county?
It says something about 4B16 not being used anymore after a talkgroup migration,
But then it says 4B16 is used for southern CT?
I am not sure what to use for that area? any help would be great

the 4b is just the system numbers...u dont really have to concern your self with that. just use radio reference and put each site in a different system in case u move around the state. if the RS 2096 can do control channel only that's the easiest way. Just start with the sites closest to you. I live near Hartford so I cant tell u which ones from there. I just put everything in and found out which sites I got the handshake from and lock out the rest until I am in a diff part of the state. That's a simple way. Once you start listening u can tell what troops overlay each other to some extent.

If i can get ahold of a troop map, then i will know what systems i need, this 2096 is just going to stay on my desk, so that is why i am only going to program New haven and Fairfield county in it

You might want to also program Troop A, Troop H and Ch-49 (Headquarters) in the scanner also. There is a lot of activity between Troop I and these two troops as well a "G". Also I-95 from the NY boarder up to the E. Haven & Branford line and I-91 up to Exit 3 is covered by Troop G. Troop I has the rest of the highways and also covers all major crime investigation activities in their troop area. Here is a better coverage map:

Actually good point I never thought about that. Usually if you see active CSP in those towns its usually M/A k-9 at least they have a few troops to get doggies from.

last summer i had my analog saber with me and i heard CSP broadcasting digital patched into NHPD for a police officers funeral, they were helping with regular patrol coverage while the NHPD attended the funeral, pretty cool

The CSP mobile command unit (or what ever its is called I can't remember) as that cross patch capability for inter-ops. I never worked out of the rig but heard it was pretty cool.
