Default Intro from Gumby

My vintage Pro 2004 died after about 25yrs of continuous broadcasting. I was searching for a replacement when I came across this forum. Things have changed sooo much since I bought that Pro 2004 - it was easily modified and a very stable scanner.

I am now considering the RS Pro 106 or 197 because of the ability to use with my pc and will post in the RS forum. Since I live in New Haven County, CT thought I'd say howdy in here too.

fwiw - I was an active EMT-I back in the 80's.

Smile Welcome aboard!!

GumbyCT!
Welcome to RR. Many of us on here have had or still have those Pro-2004/5/6 series scanners. While fine scanners for those days, they leave a lot to be desired with todays' advanced trunking and / or digital communications. The Pro-106/197 are fine scanners. However, please do the research before you purchase one as the learning curve is a steep one. Your first choice and a wise one at that, was to get on this website. Search the RR wiki pages and learn all you can BEFORE making a purchase. I live here in the same county as you. If you want to hear the CT. State Police then you definitely need a digital scanner. Again, its not rocket science, but programing takes some learning. Definitely not anything that even resembles the ancient Pro-2004. Just my 2 cents worth. Again, welcome to RR.
