Default Can BCT 8 recieve ct state police?

Hi,

It is time for me to upgrade from my BC350C into the world of trunking scanners. I like what I see (and price) of the BCT 8 trunktracker III, but does anyone know if it will recieve the ct state police, specifically troop I.

From what I have read it does only analog trunk tracking, and i've read that our system in ct is digital. How much will I be losing by using this radio?
Does anyone use this scanner in CT/ have an opinion on it?
any other reccomendations for a good scanner compatible with CT state police trunktracking?

While CT state police use an analog format for trunking, the voice is transmitted in digital, so you need a scanner that can decode digital voice. (Simple answer BCT-8 will not work for any CT state police)

Your options are Uniden BCD996XT, BC396XT, GRE PSR-500/600 or the RS PRO-106/197 and some older models - other than state police, it really depends on what you want to listen in order to determine what you will be missing out on
