The MTA cut a check to the state of CT for over 3 million for the MTAPD to go onto the system. This is for mobiles portables and improvements to the system for rtable coverage on trains, and likely more. I'm sure CDOT is also adding their share through grants and other sources.
Over the past few years the CSP has been upgrading mobiles to the APX initially in troop G, I, and F. Then others. Hopefully the MTAPD will be online soon, but so far nothing is visible.

Will digital scanners still be able to pick them up?

The new system is a CTDOT/CT Transit system. It will be a full P25 statewide system designed for mobile coverage. Ultimately, it will be merged with the CSP system once the radios are cycled out (through attrition or big purchase). All replacement radios are 700/800 MHz P25 capable units. Both systems (as well as others) use the one Motorola TRS Switch. The new system is $20,000,000.00. Maintenance will be done by DESPP (CSP) personnel.
CTDOT is also putting a $25,000,000.00 radio system in service for the Shoreline rail service.
Both radio items are in the 5 year capital spending plan.

Trouble with private call
I'm new to scanning so please help in the most simple terms possible. I'm trying to scan the new cttransit frequencies in SW CT. I'm using a Pro-107, I had a friend program it. My problem is this; I only seem to be picking up the CTTransit dispatcher not the drivers. I know that the system is digital trunked and on a p25 switch. I know the "wildcard" is programmed in my Pro-107 as well. Is it possible to scan the driver transmissions as well?

CSP has been purchasing APX7500 mobiles in the 700/800 band. The optional secondary band (VHF or UHF) was not optioned (but the radios must be ordered with the preferred secondary band for the correct RF board to be placed in the radio). So essentially they are running APX6500's.
This was done at the time as the XTL5000's are nearing the end of their sales (not service) life and makes better sense as they can support Phase 2 and will be around longer.

For whatever strange reason, SE CT Transit, AKA "SEAT", uses paging and private calls as their primary means of communications. Perhaps they are doing the same thing in SW CT. Curious as to what talkgroups you may be seeing out there (if any). CTTransit buses have been almost exclusively 45xxx RIDs.
New Britain division of CTTransit is active on the Talcott tower.

64960, and oddly enough, the UID I logged was 45678.
I've also heard UID 104 in one-sided informal chatter in the car - not sure what group. I am not normally in TGID Search mode, but will pay closer attention and let you know.

The new CTTransit system is 769-775MHz. The TGID you mentioned is one of the SEAT talkgroups around Norwich/Groton/New London and is one from the 800MHz CSP system. It is likely that the CTTransit TGs on the CSP system will go away once they are up and running on their own network.
The 45678 is a dispatcher RID for SEAT
