Default Scanner Master

I was looking around online for a good price for a new Uniden BCD996XT scanner and found that scanner master was the cheapest place to buy when compared to others. How can scannermaster.com afford to sell their products cheaper than Uniden, Radioshack or even Walmart?", Also does anyone know a site where I could find it new, but even cheaper?

Default Consider Pre-Owned

If you could consider removing "new" from your criteria, check the classifieds right here on RR. I picked up a near-new (the volume control is not even scratchy yet ) PRO-197, WITH a Larsen 150/450/800 antenna and external speaker, for $225 less than RS current price and $150 less than ScannerMaster's for just the scanner! Installed in my car, it's been working perfectly every day for over a month.

Hi scanner404:

I've been researching various Uniden products to upgrade my shack and here is what I've found with regards to the 996XT from several dealers....

Scannermaster - $449.95 + $12.50 (UPS Ground)

Scannerworld USA - $433.99 +$13.95 S&H

Bearcat Warehouse - $428.90 + $14.50 (UPS Ground)

These prices are for the 996XT itself and what comes in the box, and if you start putting in having it programmed and other goodies, the price will increase accordingly. The dealers I've listed here are the least expensive I've found.

Be careful buying from Amazon, and make sure there is a decent return policy on the seller who is selling the product on Amazon. Amazon does like buy.com does, with resellers.

I've bought from both Scanner Master and Scanner World. Both have been good to me, and are decent.

I know this thread is old but it comes up in google when I did a search so I thought I would add my recent experience with Scannermaster.

5 days ago I ordered 2 scanners and a rack mount from them early Thursday afternoon. Got a payment email reciept but my order is still sitting at processing. I sent an email on Saturday and got no response.

Here we are Monday and I still hahve yet to get a response or a shipping email. I log into my account and sure enough, my ordr is still sitting at processing.

For a website that sells scanners for emergency purposes, you'd think these folks would be a little bit more swift on getting orders out. Or some kind of email notice if they are out of stock and back ordering. This is unacceptable leaving customers with no response.

They are based out of MA and they did get alot of snow up there this past weekend, so you may want to give them a little more time. I have not bought from them recently, but did a few years ago and got great service.

Yeah but you'd think they could answer emails from home if that's the case? I mean anything is better than nothing leaving customers thinking the worst. I have family up in MI so I know it was bad. It's not the end of the world for me but I was expecting atleast an email by now.

I dont think they are open at weekends. Plus, even they did work weekends, the state banned all driving due to the bad weather. I am sure they will get to your order in due course.

Default To Our Customers

Hello this is Michael from Scanner Master. I’d like to address the concern a customer has posted on this thread. For this particular order we reached out to this customer on Monday morning when we opened at 9:00 AM (We don’t work weekends, we are a small company), about the issue of shipping. We still stick to our policy of same day shipping on all orders that aren't programmed before 3:00 PM Eastern time. This same day service keeps customers coming back to Scanner Master. Unfortunately, the harsh weather conditions we experienced on 2/8/13 forced us to close our doors on Friday. We weren't able to meet that same day expectation on this day. We tried to alert customers by putting a message up on our main website about the storm on Thursday 2/7/13 and that we weren't shipping on Friday, but sometimes we can’t get the message out to everyone. So hopefully when this customer calls us back we can resolve all his issues. But mainly the storm was at fault. We appreciate every one of our customers and we all hope they have satisfactory experience with us. Also, we do have a Price Match policy, with certain restrictions, at Scanner Master, so give us a call for details. Thanks! Mike- Scanner Master

Michael, this unprecedented storm has affected the entire northeast. What you have explained is understandable! Here in CT. we are still digging out and it is unclear when all will be normal again. I want to commend you as a representative of Scanner Master, for looking into this customers concerns and addressing it on these forums. Your public response on here is very much appreciated and goes a long way to reassure past, current, and future customers. Thank you!

Manny

heres my 2 cents on this topics 1st of all i bought a couple of scanners in the past and even accesories and most recently in the summer i bought the 396xt and ordered it around noon and the following day had it in my hand.they have great service,i noticed looking at all these scanner dealer sites you never see scanners on sale like 50 dollars off during a sale,it must be something to do with the actual dealers (uniden, gre, ETC) i do find their programing services is high,i dont know if there is somethng more to it then hooking upmto a computer and downloading it into the scanner-for them to put 8 counties in my scanner it would cost over 300 dollars,so i do it myself, they are a great company,

i looked on ebay for the hell of it and one person was selling the 996xt for over 2 thousand dollars, with no extras,i had to look twice,he wont make a sale.another place that sells this scanner is ham radio outlet HRO.COM but im going to stay a scanner master customer.

I've purchased a couple of scanners & accessories from Scannermaster and find their experience & service very good. Per chance I ordered an antenna for one of my handhelds yesterday and they notified me that afternoon it had shipped. They're not the cheapest, but it's worth paying a little more knowing you're doing business with an established business that has a storefront and knowledgeable support staff that will return your phone call, which is something I can't say about web retailers found on Amazon, et al.

If you're within driving distance of their store, take a couple of minutes to look at their museum. If you're a scanner/radio enthusiast you'll appreciate it.

Best of luck with your purchases.

I agree, it's frustrating to deal with some of these online sellers on sites like Amazon and E-Bay. I'd rather pay a bit more at Scanner Master and know for sure I will be satisfied with my purchase, than buying a broken product I'd have to pay more money than it's worth to return or fix. In fact, looking at buying directly from the dealer or places like Radio Shack, you actually do save a few bucks by buying from SM. Only problem I have left is saving up enough money to buy such a great scanner.
