Newtown school shooting 12-14-12
state police channel is active--there is an active shooter in sandy hook elementary school in newtown in dickenson rd--trooper 1 reponding-perimeter set up,multi police o/s with numerous people shot shooter not in custody yet

Call came in for ALL western district major crime to respond to the scene. Multiple ambulances were called in. At least 3 shots were heard by first responding CSP units.Approx. 8 ambulances enroute for mutual aid!

3 AMR + 2 Campion + 1 Southbury + 2 Medics were sent to fire station to stage
slow down incoming ambulances - hold all other ambulances - 1040 AM
per scanner feed

Staging is the Sandy Hook Firehouse Hq behind the school. Multiple ambulances enroute. Ansonia sendin1, Shelton sending 2, Derby sending 1.

This was nuts! I heard Troop A notify their troopers that Newtown was working a shooting. One trooper asked if Newtown was asking for assistance. A replied that there were no troopers available at that time. When one trooper responded and yelled back that he heard at least 3 shots fired, all hell broke loose! Suddenly there were plenty of troopers available! Funny (strange) how that works out!
Eastern Tac Units advised to stage at Troop A.

dimab, just go to the live feed for Newtown under Fairfield County.
Coolant113, the sound is the Newtown PD units on scene, they are transmitting encrypted. Fire and EMS are in the clear.
Live feed on WVIT NBC 30, WTNH ABC 8, WFSB CBS 3, and WTIC Fox 61, WABC 7 and WNBC 4 both have feed coverage.
Also Troop A in Southbury is located practically just over teh newtown / Southbury line

Purple van with 2 suspects wearing ski masks one dressed in a nun's outfit, possibly related to this incident, being sought. Last seen in Danbury.
Per CSP, FBI personell on scene.

Now I am curious as to what this story unfolds to be, this is crazy. Have there been any confirmed injuries? I'm getting different numbers from different sources.

We have been informed that the Newtown Schools are in lockdown and local news stations are reporting that there was a school shooting at or near Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown. We have been in contact with the Monroe Police Department and school administration regarding this issue. As a precaution, we are implementing security measures in our schools to keep students safe and secure during the day. As part of these precautions, we are going to hold AM kindergarten students all day and PM kindergarten is canceled. Should there be any changes we will update you as more information becomes available. - Monroe Public Schools
unconfirmed report that the principal has been shot during a morning meeting.

It is confirmed that 3 people have been transported to Danbury Hospital, unknown / unconfirmed injuries. the shooter is DOA, two guns retrieved from him.

Edit: Danbury PD just reported the van near a bagel shop, passenger threw something in the garbage
