Everything you need is in the data base to listen to these services.

For TX when you get the offical letter allowing you to TX of the system they include the programming information

Didn't Naugatuck fire police go away like 10 years ago?

And to avoid the RR Police on here to get all over you...

If you are just looking to listen, there is no need for the inputs in the radio. There are several reasons for this:

#1-If not authorized by the license holder, it is illegal under FCC regulations (which have the same power as federal law with civil fines and equipment forfitures) to have the transmit information in the radio. Yes its there and people have been jacked up over it.

#2-You don't want to be the person who "accidently" key's the radios while with dead air, pocket transmitting or otherwise interfearing with other transmissions

#3-You don't want your kids/friends/coworkers doing the same if/when they get ahold of the radio

#4-You don't want your radio stolen and have #2 and #3 occur

Now, if your a member of said departments - get written authorization from the guy in charge and they can give you the correct information or requirements needed - or send you to the radio shop that can program it up correctly. Some places REQUIRE MDC1200 or similar signalling requirements, so do not.

and it looks like he's got a UV5R which isn't FCC type certified. So he wouldn't be able to use that radio anyway, even if he was authorized to TX
