Cool Derby Storm Ambulance Dispatch Freq.

I see that in the RR database there is a new freq. for Derby Storm Amb. 453.900 / DPL 311 listed as dispatch. The old dispatch frequency is still there, also labeled as dispatch. Can someone clear this up please? Is Derby abandoning the old one, reasigning it or what is the deal there? Before I pull out the cables and software to make the changes, I want to get it right. Thanks!

Manny

Derby Fire and Storm Ambulance are still operating on 453.050 DCS of 331, this is the operational / dispatch frequency. I can't remember if it was Firebuff66 or someone else here stated that 453.900 was a back up frequency, used to reach some parts of the town. I know that S.A.C. also operated on 451.5500 (131.8) as an admin frequency / channel 2 for their ops if need be (mainly to get off of Derby's primary) so maybe it is replacing 451.55(?) which is also used by a bus company out of Long island, which you can hear clear as day in the Valley.

I'll see if I can find some information out through my firends over at S.A.C. or if anyone else knows of anything, chime in.

Okay here is what I got so far. The 453.9000 frequency is listed under the call sign WNYN395. This call sign was issued a renewal in 2002 for the frequency of 33.04 (SAC's low band admin when Derby was operating on 33.4400).

Now what I remember is SAC they did have another UHF frequency when Derby first went over to UHF. This FCC licence was modified a few times and on 6/3/2011 453.9000 was added to the licence.

SO the hunch until confirmed (got a call into the Asst. Chief) this is Storm Ambulance's admin frequency now.

Default Derby Tac Channel 5

The 453.900 DPL 311 is called TAC. 5. The channel is used for overflow traffic at large incidents, EMS traffic at fire scenes, second incidents and command communications when the primary FD channel is in busy.
CMED NH has a control station to monitor the frequency. In addition the frequency has a Zetron Sentry voice announcement system that provides over the air indications of phone circuit/site failures for the primary FD frequency ( when a line goes down or a receiver fails a voice announcement will indicate the problem) .

The 453.900 was added because it is a public safety frequency. the 451.55/454.000 are business channels that were initially setup for no emergency communications and the HAZMAT team.

Derby is the only area town that still alerts EMS on the FD channel. Adding the new channel is a fail-safe if the FD were to request EMS to be dispatched on their own channel.
