I would STRONGLY think they were issued a BPT portable radio or similar. For them to have "Interoperable" communicaitons would be a stretch with that unit.

Would guess they work on the Mil-Freqs - similar to the Sub Base - maybe some freq's for the local neighboring departments, but that's about it.

That is a Motorola CDM-1550 on the dash board. Those are available in VHF Low, VHF, UHF, 700MHz and 220MHz. They do analog and LTR and Passport. No way to tell the band from the picture, and I don't see an antenna on the photo of the "truck". If you could identify the antenna, we could probably narrow down what band they are on.

Looks like Bridgeport fire is on VHF conventional, so if that is a VHF CDM1550, it's entirely within the capability of the radio. Military uses a lot of frequencies down around 140MHz, also within the capability of a VHF CDM1550.

i am almost positive they had a portable issued to them while assisting the city, figured i would ask if there was a freq they used for fire comms to talk unit to unit in the national guard, they must have some kind of dispatch center-this is a first seeing one of these truck in a connecticut town to assisit a fire dept,i would of loved to get video of this truck responding behind the bridgeport fire trucks.you dont see that everyday.

Bridgeport Fire is on VHF high band. The unit was designated ARMY-1 on the BFD radio. From the information that I have, they were issued a BFD radio so they can communicate with them and the unit was quartered on Boston Ave with Engine & Ladder 10. The unit is also rumored to be out of the National Guard base in East Lyme, I do not have this confirmed.

Its also weird seeing the ANG firefighters in tan gear working along side BFD in their black gear!! ;D

I have only heard Ct. ANG Helos on 40.9 and have had that freq in my scanners for decades. PL was 150.0

It would be cool to see a NG firetruck responding. Now I know that they have lights on their trucks, but do they have sirens?

These units have VHF and also have the interop radio channels for CT which are the STOCS channels. There are four such units house at Stone Ranch in Old Lyme, CT. These have capability of communicating with departments in that area on VHF. They also carry UHF portables also. But as was stated previously they were probably assigned a BFD portable for communications with the city. New Haven did the same thing with their assigned National Guard assigned units.

Most of the National Guard in CT utilizes VHF.
