There may be alot more before those in the 821 have to move down, How about New Haven Fire and Willimantic Police anyone have any info????

Also add Hartford Regional Access Frequencies (RAFS) 857.4215 MHz PL114.8 RAFS 1

As far as meriden goes, I know my 296 will handle the change. What is actually going to be effected scanning wise with the band change? Is it going to be nessasary to have an upgrade to the scanner right away? Bigger question is how with all of the units they have, is the state going to be able to pull this off?

Meriden PD

First all it will not affect your scanner and the state of CT has nothing to do with this, the real problem will be when those in the 821 move down to the 806 channels.

Anyone know what the rebanding plans are for Trumbull PD? New frequency? Date?

Trumbull PD main channel 857.2625 Mhz is not within the rebanding process but the 868.9875 Mhz is and that will become 853.9875 MHz when rebanded. Only the first 120 channel 851.0125 Mhz thru 853.9875 Mhz are being relocated. All those in the 821-823 Mhz are being located -15 Mhz lower.

any idea on when meriden and nhfd are actually happening? Also are those base/repeter freqs for nhfd or base and fireground? And I was thinking about your comment about the 821 freqs and was wondering who was actually on them, gave it some thought and figured it out and was like "duh" these are the repeater input freqs. So the other question I have is will any of this effect the actual repeater output freqs? I would imagine it would if a department really wanted to change the whole system or if the repeater input/output was too close for the departments radios to handle. Is that a correct assumption or is that the mother of all f/u's-lol

Joe

PS-btw - thank you for the updates.

Great...your going to have everyone going down to 700 then complain about interfearence between each other there with the 800 portion free and clear :)

The "pairs" are staying the same, when one moves the other moves.
There is plenty posted about this. No need to rewrite it all.

I get the impression he is referring to the interference aspect leading to rebanding. However, the current 800 MHz interference is not being caused by too many public safety agencies in the spectrum. It is being caused by data carriers such as Nextel having frequencies too close to the P/S band. This is the interference. If and when the 700 MHz band opens up, multiple agencies moving there is not going to cause the problem currently found in the 800 band.

Hope that helps.

I think it was just sarcasm about the folks who want to move to 700 to solve all thier problems. Since there is no LMR there now, who knows what problems will lie there in the future. If there is money to be made at the expense of the public safety radio spectrum, who do you think will win??

As for the interference, rebanding will only help with some of it. Nextel is still going to pump huge amounts of power out from the sites in frequencies that are not very far from the public safety freqs. If public safety is in the 868.xxxx range and Nextel is at 865.xxxx and causing problems, whats the difference between that and the 859.xxxx and Nextel at 862.xxxx ???

One more step would be to ban Nextel phones from the dispatch centers. They cause LOTS of interference to the system when they are used near the equipment. Ever hear the "chugging" when someone is transmitting?
