Is the old control channel still active? The new frequency is showing in all the neighbor zones. I suppose the old control channel could be in site trunking and the new one in wide area trunking.

The old one isn't working anymore. So far I have confirmed 852.2000,853.2000 and 853.7500.

As a rebanded system, the band plan must be changed to reflect the new channel assignments. Some programs will do it for you or else you need to do it. Since you are not seeing any of the 85x.xxx5 channels, this is almost certainly the problem.

I'm still not receiving any channels of 85x.xxx5 kind. I've done the re-banding table and still nothing.

Not to take away from this thread, but if CSP goes fully encrypted digital that would really be detrimental to us scanner listeners.
It certainly is a big reason to get a digital radio here in CT.
Not sure it would be worth the cost of a digital scanner without them....
Thanks for keeping us on top of this,

A tipster stated that (contrary to what I initally heard) only the following troops are (were) getting the APX7500 radios: Troop A, G, H, I and F due to rebanding. Not sure why, but thats what the person said, though it was also said that the last batch of newly issued crusiers have the radios in them as well. *Speculation* is that as vehicles are picked up from fleet points in those troop areas, they are just getting them. If someone is getting a new car in the east side of the state, and picks it up in the east side they may or may not be getting a new radio. I don't know. /speculation.

However, no one has mentioned any new portables being issued beyond the XTS5000's that have shown up here and there. My guess (speculation again) is that any newly purchased portables will end up being APX6000 radios. The XTS3000 I *think* is just about out of its guanteed parts availablity cycle at the factory. Once the parts are gone, one will have to cannibalize parts (which you really can't do these days) to keep the inventory up. The ASTRO25 line (XTS/XTL 1500/2500/5000) is most likely going to disappear in the next year or two in favor of the APX line, so doesn't make since to keep buying those. The ASTRO Spectras that they use is also nearing the support cycle.

Other than the batteries and speakermics, nothing internal between the 3000 and 5000 is the same.

There will be tons more rumors. The one fact I can confirm is that Troop D is online on the rebanded frequencies and is no more encrypted than it was before.

To continue the off topic thread... :-)
I think it is inevitable the CSP will someday be 100% encryption capable. I also think it is likely they will use it when they get that capability. Like almost everything else, money will slow them down but they, will at some point, replace every radio. Someone had posted that they had purchased 700 new APX radios. That is somewhere around 15-20% radios in use. Without a major capital purchase of new radios, I would suspect several years before they are ready.
The media gets a separate, private feed of the Dispatch 1 talkgroup from each troop plus an archive of that talkgroups comms. It was set up prior to the advent of the Trunktracker scanners.

As CG states, is correct, about the rumors and radios. The system as a whole is already encyption capable...all the radio guys need to do is change the talkgroup profiles to allow it, and thats it. Its just a matter of getting the units in the field. Even then, I'd seriously doubt that it would be 100% encypted. Many agencies that did that have dropped the full time encyption, Delaware State Police being a good example.
