Exclamation Madison PD Encrypted or APCO-25?

Morning all,

Noticed that Madison PD went silent on me the other day and that recently the database was updated within this site to show that they went to APCO-25.

The rub is that my BCD396 isn't picking them up so I am doubting that they went to APCO-25. Can anyone confirm if they actually went encrypted instead?

Best,
MikeMike

Madison has gone to APCO-25. I have a RS 2096 and get them good here in Ivoryton

Motorhead27,

Thanks for the quick reply...

Strange, I guess I'll have to check to see how I have my 396 set-up. I thought that the 396 automatically decoded APCO-25 without any tweaks.

Thanks again,
MikeMike

Make sure you don't have the old CTCSS/DCS still entered. It needs to be blank for APCO-25 to decode.

They are still broadcasting the EMS tones and message in the clear on the PD frequency.

Default BCD 396 - Can't hear Madison CT PD

I also can't hear Madison CT PD on my BCD395. I listed them as APCO 25 and used no PL's, etc. Nothing.

Wink Listening to Madison

Gents,

I originally had problems as well but the hints provided in this thread did help solve the issue. Once I cleared out any and all PL's, they came in fine. If I recall, I think I actually deleted the original channel I had from them and then added it back. Make sure it is a plain conventional channel without any PL's and the 396 will do the APCO decoding automatically. You do not need to program the channel etc. as APCO-25.

Once I made the connection that programming channels with PL's that are truly APCO-25 would prevent me from hearing them, I went back and took out all the PL's and they now all work like magic.

Hope this helps!

Best,
MikeMike

Not sure what you mean by "listed them as APCO 25." This should be programmed as a conventional channel with no PL tone set.

Madison PD is IMBE/Digital in the clear. They do have ADP encryption available.
