Exclamation Upcoming RadioReference.com Changes?

Can someone direct me to a discussion of purported changes to RadioReference.com's download services?

I have heard through a Yahoo group that "REST" services are going to be discontinued and only "SOAP" service downloads will be possible after July 30th. What does this mean?

This reportedly will disable downloading by most software programs except PSREdit and ProScan by what I have read.

What exactly is going on?

All of Butel's products have been updated to use the new Web service.

RR changes

Starsoft (Win96/Win500) fame are currently being updated and I've heard they'll make the deadline for updates.

I don't believe that bctool is actively maintained any more... so those user's might be out of luck.

All in all, from what I can tell 95% of all the apps will be using the up to date Web service on Aug 1st.

Warm regards,

By the way, the reason why we are sunsetting the XML REST based Web service is because of the lack of flexibility is provided us.

With the SOAP Web service, we implemented important components such as versioning of the service, many new features, and easier application development for developers. WIthout versioning, we were unable to roll out any changes to the Web services without either breaking existing applications or requiring huge lead times to roll out any changes. Now, I can release updates immediately, and the developers can pick and choose between versions on their own schedule. It is a much better architecture.

It didn't make sense for us to maintain two totally different Web services.... We originally planned to sunset the REST service earlier in the year but extended it to July 31st.

Warm regards,
