Welcome to RadioReference governmentcheese

If you pay for subscription, then you can download directly from the database into your scanner.
Great if you have a "clean",out of the box new radio that isn't programmed.
Also, you may want to print off some .pdf's to have a hard copy saved.

Alpha tags are descriptors of what is "on" that numerical talkgroup.
This is a great feature telling you at a glance what you are listening to.

Welcome to RR.com, govermentcheese. Hope we can help you in this hobby.

I'm not exactly sure I understand your question so I'll explain alpha tags. These are short sentences (usually 16 characters or less) you can enter into most scanners to be displayed on the scanner's screen when it is monitoring someone. It tells you who is talking at that time. It makes it very nice since there are so many agencies and so many agencies have more than one channel for their use.

Now I urge you to return to your User CP (the left side of the second blue bar from the top of any page if you are logged in) and edit your profile to include your location (city and state) as you were requested to do in the material e-mailed to you when you registered. Once you fill in your location it will automatically show in each of your posts. Many of the questions you will have, and their answers, are going to be location specific and without having your location showing you will be asked over and over again what it is. So fill it in now and be done with it.

Yes, there should be a talkgroup number listed in the same horizontal column that the alpha tag would refer to.
