Basic Anywhere Frequencies...
Is there anyplace in the RR database where you can download basic frequencies used anywhere in the US? For example: all railroad channels, all marine channels, NASCAR, FRS, etc.

Look in the WiKi. Many of them are posted there.
Good Luck

I asked the same type of question a short while back. Basic freq's (or some national freq's) such as Rail Road, FRS, GMRS, Marine ...ect. are so well known, and are usually in the newer scanners when you purchase them, under system search mode, that RR database doesnt seem to want to be bothered by adding them. It sounds a bit harsh, but thats what one of the admins told me. He was very nice about it, and I understood that those national freq's are pretty much in my scanner already. The NASCAR freq's often change throughout the season, and drivers change all the time... its too difficult to keep up with those changes on a weekly basis, some freq's for NASCAR are not announced prior to the race, and the only way to get them sometimes is to either do a search, or to rent one of thier scanners for the day at the track, or to BUY the active race freq list for that day from those vendors at the track.
Also, the FRS and other freq's are in Radioreference, just find them in the wiki area. They are not in the database for downloading, but are available on wiki if you want to manually program them into your scanner. A bit more difficult and time consuming, but accurate and you get the same results. I will try to find you the link to where they answered my question so that you can read it for yourself ok.
PS I love Crazy Frog... your RR avatar picture I have a big Tattoo of him on my leg !
take care
Kevin

I probably didn't make my question clear. :-) I know the actual frequencies are listed all over the Internet and in WIKI as well. I'm looking for a download from the RR database using software like ARC500 or WIN500 so I don't have to enter them manually. Some states have marine for example... but just those used in that area and not the whole list. Same for the rail freqs. I looked under a few of the "statewide" entries... but didn't find them there.

1) Find the list of the freqs. you want.
2) Highlight the list.
3) Hold down the CTRL key, hit "C".
4) Click on where you want them in your computer.
5) Hold down the CTRL key, hit "V".
(That's called CUT & PASTE or COPY & PASTE. CTRL-C=cut. CTRL-V=paste)

The PRO-197 and 106 don't have these frequencies pre-loaded. I've tried several ways to "cut and past" into the WIN500 software and it doesn't work. I'll just enter them manually and then post the .p500 files. If somebody needs them or the database manager wants to save them somewhere that's fine with me. I was just looking for a way to save myself some typing. :-)

I'm surprised it doesn't work because I've done it in WIN95 numerous times. WIN500 is also Don Starr's program so it ought to work the same way.
Can you describe exactly what you did that did not work?
1)
2)
etc.

I should have mentioned the freqs., etc. must be in the same columns as in WIN500, so you may need to use an intermediate spreadsheet document to move things around to the correct columns and delete unnecessary things. It's not easy, but MUCH easier than one at a time.

I use WIN93 and 95 as well. Cut and past works fine there. But in WIN500... the freq defaults to 25.00000 anytime you try cut and paste. :-(

Hmm not sure what you're doing wrong, but every Conventional freq in my PSR600 started life in an Excel spreadsheet, and got copied/pasted into Win500, so it does work.

I understand it would be nice to have in the DB, but it's not really necessary.

Thanks for the help... but I don't have the Excel program. Very basic on this end.

I like this concept. Even though the OP mentions FRS, CB, etc., I think the idea conveys a concept that is part of our hobby, but is not yet implemented here at RadioReference. This concept, of course, is database information that transcends states, and even countries.
A few years ago, here, I was in discussions about how to document common military frequencies that aren't "just in Ohio" with KA3JJZ. The answer was to use the Wiki, because that was really the only option.
But the Wiki can only take frequency organization so far, because:
- it can't be downloaded using scanner software, and
- you still have to hunt for information in the Wiki, depending on who authored it and how it was categorized.
Back to the original idea: a location-independent section of the database that holds common frequencies could be useful, like:
- FRS
- GMRS
- MURS
- the 380 MHz military "FRS equivalent" (can't remember what it's called)
- CB
- Railroad
- Marine
- Common aircraft (123.45, 234.56, 121.5, 243.0)
- other common emergency freqs (406 MHz beacon? just brainstorming)
- Ham simplex (you get the idea...)
This is better than relying on "search", because it's not guaranteed that all scanners implement their channel searches the same way (what scanner search includes MURS?), and enabling search ranges as part of your scan can be clunky depending on the scanner.
In summary: implementing "basic anywhere" frequencies in the database could be another value-add for RadioReference, as well as the concept of a location-independent area of the database that could prove useful over time.

I was curious about these types of standard freq's myself... and I questioned it a short while back... I got a reply that tells me that its not going to be added anytime soon. Bummer... some freq lists are semi-lengthy, and downloading them from the RR database on the fly would be a nice feature. I believe others would agree. Maybe someday they will be added on a nationally recognized "US STANDARD FREQUENCIES" page. Until then, my little fingers are busy programming.

This has been answered any number of times in the past but I will do so once again.
There is no way to add Nationwide frequencies as there is no way to attach frequencies or even agencies to the country.
Conventional frequencies are only (repeat only) contained in sub-categories. Sub-categories are only contained in Categories. Categories are a component of County pages or Agency pages. The highest level that can have agencies associated is the state level.
As a result of the design of the database, there will never be a Nationwide Frequencies section that will allow downloads.
