Did you log in while on the Main Page (or any DB page) with your UserID and password?

Yes - the only difference being I was not logged in from my home pc but I do not see how that should make any difference. Never had this problem before yesterday and just recently had my membership renewed after it expired.

EDIT: Well I guess I have proven to be wrong again as it seems to work just fine from my home pc.

Why would the advanced search functions not work when I am logged in from another pc other than at my home?

It would not, which is why I asked had you logged in on the main page? Despite the fact the various sections of the site (main site, forums, wiki) use the same ID & password, you must still log in to each separately. That is why I asked the question earlier, if indeed you were logged in to the main section, I have no idea what the problem might have been.

I log into the forums main page and then click on the DB icon at the top of the page and then proceed to use the DB search feature - never had a problem in this way. When at home this procedure works fine, but when successfully logged in from another RR members pc at his home I get the denied message.

Perhaps the other RR member is not a premium member and it is logged into his account on the database side and yours in the forums. Since you start out on the forums page, make sure you are logged into your account on the database section by logging out and then back in once you are in the database. Just a thought...

He is not a premium member but was not even on the internet and not logged into anything
at the time( i brought up his browser from a cold start ). I just tried the same thing from work
but was prompted to log in - which I promptly did and the DB search was completed aok. I
should have got that response from his browser but did not - wonder if its a browser version
problem???

well if he has cookies enabled he would not necesarily need to log in even from a fresh start. I never have to log in (except after dumping cookies) because I have the cookie enabled to save my login . The only way to tell is log off then back in again.

Thank you - that seems to fit the circumstances. I forgot about the cookies possibility. I will have to look into that next time I visit him.
