Cool BC346XT Subscription question

I have got to a point with trying to use BC tool and freescan and am hitting a wall downloading to my scanner. The PC is communicating with the scanner, but seems to just go through the motions and nothing is received. I looked at the tutorials for Scancat-Lite to try their software. My question is that i would prefer to be a paying member here in RR for the use of their database, or would i still have to buy the software from another vendor and use RR's info? Thanks

I think you may be a little confused as to the roll of each of the items you have described performs. A Premium Subscription, which you call being "a paying member" is exactly what it says, a subscription. It is the key needed to unlock the RR Database for the different software to access all the data stored there.

Your software, whether it is BC Tool, FreeScan, ScanCrap-Lite (it does not have a good reputation), or any one of several more programming software all needs access to the Database.

The Database does not belong to the software but provides the data the software needs in order to program your scanner. So, to answer your question, you need BOTH a Premium Subscription, AND programming software, or you must program manually. Be aware that a Premium Subscription can be had for only 90 days at the cost of $7.50 and most software has 30-day free trial offers, so you could do everything on the cheap. Unethical, maybe, but cheap.
