The correct freq is 173.7125. The VHF Gov band uses 12.5kHz spacing.

It's been known to be used by USMS.

In the Analog days this was (DE/MD) an FBI Channel.
Without the NAC from the OP all we can do is speculate for now.

And last I recall FBI radio techs were doing USMS maintenance so there could be some relation if so. I haven't seen any freq or NAC sharing in my neck of the woods though. I think they both have each others channels in their radios.

Yup, according to many .gov articles and RFP/RFQ items.

Here in the Northeast we have $070 but it's 98% ENC, there are assumptions
it could be the USM or FBI SOG

Since April there has been plenty of activity in the VHF bands here in 617

If you're still there:

How'd you figure out it was USMS? I just realized I had totally duplicated this thread in the MD forum, and I keep getting more and more convinced it's FBI.

That would make a lot of sense given the $167 and all the 848xxxx RIDs I keep seeing.

See someone else said that in the MD forum too, but I remember seeing a whole bunch of 848s on the baltimore field office net a few years ago. Where'd you get that assignment from?

From years of studying received ID's from my own monitoring and from other reports from throughout the country. Alot of times there will be a surge of activity, followed by media reports days, weeks, months later. There does appear to be a national standard for radio ID"s for all the different agencies.

The Fed Files Blog: Federal P-25 Radio Identifications
Also see one of the recent Spectrum Monitor where CP broke down how to decode the RID for the $167 Agency

Fair enough, I'm happily corrected now that I see a source :)

I have heard much about a lot of this stuff being regional rather than nationally planned, though, hence my skepticism.
