Two questions:

Is there software out there that I can use to see activity on the local repeater (access to it is not a problem as I am the trustee of the repeater). ie activity across the time slots, the user IDs, etc...

Has anyone come up with software where you can do instant messaging like you can on d-star?

DMRDecode, using a discriminator tapped scanner, will accomplish your first goal.

I know about it. That's not what I'm after. Something like the GenFIT software.

GenWatch and TRBOnet Watch will do that (although I noticed that TRBOnet Watch will not work with the latest repeater firmware, so that may or may not work for your situation). The c-Bridge can also be used for this purpose, too.
