DSD file sharing site dangerous?

Hi All,

I just downloaded the latest version of DSD from Megaupload. While I was on the Megaupload page waiting for the countdown, a popup ad page came up and Norton subsequently notified me that an intrusion attack was blocked. looking at the history, Norton identified six separate intrusion attempts that was blocked in one minute I was online. No harm was done since Norton caught the problem and blocked the access, but I am concerned that the site that houses the DSD source is potentially dangerous.

1. false positive
2. intrusion attempt not actually related to Megaupload
3. an advertiser using malware/spyware to promote a product

Hi Rick,

It's probably not #2 because Norton flagged it exactly when the advertiser's banner came up. I also sorted Norton history by severity and it was a long time since I got one of these intrusion messages.

It could however be a false positive.

If Norton is stopping the pop ups you're probably ok, after all that's what anti virus is supposed to do. If you still have worries just boot into linux and go to the site and download from there.
