Although I don't particularly mind that you changed all of the links to point to direct files off of my site, there are reasons why I had one listing in the wiki for my site [as backup]:
  • In one or more cases, the original links pointed to places where one could [theoretically] download what was released by the original compiler of that version. One could suggest that because those were the original distribution points, they would be considered more "pristine" and thus more trustworthy than my site.
  • My backup site specifically dumps people into a directory where a readme file exists. And the reason for that is that I put a disclaimer in that readme and specifically indicate that people need to obtain cygwin1.dll, either from somewhere else or by installing Cygwin from cygwin.com
  • I myself neither developed or compiled any of the executable versions available on my site. I downloaded from the original download sites and put them up on mine as a backup. I didn't want anybody to get the picture that I was somehow involved in development.

By changing all of those links to point to my individual site, nobody sees the readme or the reference to cygwin1.dll, which will cause more people to come to these forums and proclaim that they can't get DSD to work.

I'm not going to take the time to change the links back, but I'd seriously recommend that at the very least you edit the wiki so that it mentions that people must have cygwin1.dll in the same directory as the DSD executable, and that they can obtain a proper cygwin1.dll by downloading/installing Cygwin from Cygwin

Ok far as the .cygwin.dll I did put that disclaimer note below the downloads on the wiki.
I see your point on the links, but the way I saw it was that the original links were pointing to the site that the installs were gone, but I felt it was OK to change them due to the fact your link was already there.

I used the wiki UNDO option so the links go back to where they were - not working links. I left the cygwin disclaimer note and left a good website I found, link for windows installation and setup.

Thank you. I can't tell you what to do, and I certainly don't care that more people are immediately pointed to my website for download [since it has been more reliable than minus.* for a few months now].

You probably did the right thing. I just hate for people to not read my disclaimer. I like them to know that they should put some forethought into downloading / executing anything. If some read my disclaimer and then don't download it, I figured that was better than them downloading it, a week later getting a virus, and then claiming I was responsible rofl.

So, after some thought I don't mind if you put it back so that the links point to mine. Somewhere the original download URLs should be noted though, for safe keeping. Hmm, now that i think of it, everything in the wiki can be reverted / is stored somewhere. So even if you delete it, I think it would be possible to find the original links if we had to for some reason.

If you dont' want to mess with it any further because I've been a pain in the ***, I understand. Otherwise, if you want to re-do things so they all point to mine, that's fine by me
