Doing a search between 141 and 144 on my old pro-2006 ran across 142.4250

I'm receiving this frequency as clear as day, checked the database and it says Penetang 30PENE and Whitby 37WHIT I know I can't receive that far on indoor antennas...where else could it be anyone know?

re: 142.425

from the coordinates you provided for your qth (Latitude 43.54060 Longitude -80.27730)
my guess is oxford county police on 142.425 PL173.8
I sometimes hear this one over the whitby fleetnet freq. when conditions are right

There has been a lot of skip lately.... with these hot days and fairly cool nights. Last night I was only using my RS 800mhz ducky on my Pro-96 and was receiving many many 800mhz trunked systems out of the US. Warren Michigan's P25 system, MPSCS, Lake County Ohio and a slew of EDACS stuff which was likely Consumers Energy in Ohio/Michigan. Of course I noticed all this just as I was getting ready to go to bed, so I didn't get much of a chance to play.

Yup sounds like Oxford Community PD. You may get them stronger on 142.860mhz.

re: saugeen shores on 142.425

I just spent the week up at Inverhuron provincial park (nice park/ beautiful beach)
I love these locations where you can hear everything!
It reminds me of the good old days of scanning before
iDEN/P25 encryption etc.

I kept an ear on Port Elgin on 142.425 and heard lots of activity but RR database also shows a Southampton channel on
142.635..
Is that one active ?? I didn't hear a peep on it at all.
Also, what channel is the fire dept. for Port Elgin calls on?
I listened to 153.860 but didn't hear them there.

Hello,

142.6350 was southampton ages ago, and also used by meaford when they had their own force before they went with OPP.
It's not used anymore.
They still use 139.8 but very rarely, I've heard them say go to channel 3 as it is not using a repeater and complain they were too far away to use it, so they use cell phones most of the time for unit to unit communication if it's anything private.
They will be going to a new radio system soon, Owen Sound is also getting a new one, hopefully it's fleetnet as otherwise scanners might be useless soon in the area :(

Port Elgin fire still uses 153.86 and I also haven't heard much lately from them.
Here's my frequency list for the area for police/fire:
