A few weeks ago i was messing around with the control channel only mode on my 396 and I came across a system on 858.2250.
Using the following website
http://www.jrmy.net/tafl/

It listed this frequency for Henderson hospital in Hamilton.

Last week Graeme and Andy was kind enough to help me, the complete moron when it comes to tech, tap my old Pro2045 scanner, in fact Andy drove on out to Hamilton and spent about 5 hrs shooting the breeze with me and Graeme. I have been messing around ever since, with Trunker88 and Unitrunker for the EDACS system and GO system.

Today I again found activity on 858.2250 and a few voice comms with 'talkgroups' in the 220 and 240 range. Trunker88 found that there is a voice channel as well 857.9750 and in the short comms there was a call about ER.

The SID # is 362c

I am guessing I found a system much like Stelco?

This is the notepad of info I had of the one call on this system:

16:26:28 AutoBaud: effective bit rate = 3598.8 bps (0.0% error)
16:29:53 Group comm: (new) Radio 106 on (new) TG 240 [2.2s]

Stats Summary: Scan Marker is present; 1 new channel; 1 new talkgroup;
1 new radio; 1 Type2 Group Call Grant;
Max loading: 2 channels (2 channels currently active);

16:31:09 Foreground activity logging terminated
16:31:09 Background activity logging terminated

The official (IC) TAFL site lists two other channels, 857.7250 and 858.4750 under
callsigns VAX340 and VAX423. The ERP is 5W, so definitely a system with limited
range. Good find.

Hi Dave: I have LOS of pretty much everything in central Hamilton. Henderson is on the montain brow. It is a low power system for sure, I have heard 3 calls on it in the past hour, talkgroup 240.

I loaded it into the 396 and set in ID search.

I doubt it is very exciting for a system but what the heck.

I will let it run on Henderson tomorrow, like Stelco I found this AM it has multiple c/channels.

Well I got home and have a large enough file to submit but before I do I would appreciate it someone wanted to look at my files for this system.
I dont feel comfortable in submitting this system till someone can verify what kind of system this is, type1, 2, etc.
There are two control channels and 2 voice channels, it has changed from day to day.

I could not disern what the limited amount of talkgroups are.

If anyone wants me to send them my notepad or OSW files please PM or message me here and we can get another system on the database.

Excellent log file; 99.9005% decode rate.

As expected, it looks like a simple non-networked Type II system:

SysID: 362C

Stats Summary:
Affiliate on PwrUp; Connect tone: 83.72 Hz; No dispatch timeout;
No interconnect timeout (phone may be disabled); No secure channels;
Scan Marker is present; 4 new channels; 4 new talkgroups;
42 new radios; 26 Affiliations; 12 Deaffiliations;
176 Type2 Group Call Grants; Max loading: 4 channels

The controller clearly favours the 857.9750 and 858.2250 channels; the 857.7250 and 858.4750 channels see very little use.

I noticed a few group call grant errors where two radios keyed up at the same time on the same talkgroup and the controller granted them both access to the talkgroup at the same time. This is exactly what trunking is supposed to prevent, but that's good old Motorola for you:

32B I 362C Scan marker; Auto affiliation; SysID=362C
3C0 G 5000 SS2
3C0 G 3040 SS1
32B I 362C Scan marker; Auto affiliation; SysID=362C
3C0 G 5000 SS2
308 G 0012 Group call grant; TG=2 RID=12 Chan=117
117 G 0020
3C0 G 5000 SS2
3C0 G 3040 SS1
308 G 0012 Group call grant; TG=2 RID=12 Chan=117
117 G 0020
3C0 G 5000 SS2
Group Call Grant Error:
308 G 0004 Group call grant; TG=2 RID=4 Chan=117
117 G 0020
3C0 G 3040 SS1
308 G 0004 Group call grant; TG=2 RID=4 Chan=117
117 G 0020

I see that the radio IDs used on each talkgroup fall into somewhat contiguous groups. And with only a handful of talkgroups, Eric should have the group names nailed down soon...

Guys: I got 2 of the four talkgroups listed here, give a little while longer and I will submit it to the d/b,

Again, it is very boring stuff, way more fun to find it.

Man it would be a blast to run Trunker88 in T.O. but I dont think my bosses would like me monkeing around with the computers & I hope to not be working here much longer.

I just submitted this system to the d/b

I figured out 2 talkgroups but have not logged any info on 2 others.

If anyone in the general area wants to mess around with this pls go right ahead.

Eric

P.S. Special thanks the Andy, Dave H and Jellotor for guidance and help
