I read on the wiki that the Toronto police use a Bell Fleetnet system. What is this and will it require special programming to listen to on a BCD996T?

I'd like to see that link on the WIKI

No, Toronto Police use a Motorola Type II Smartzone system in the 800 MHz band.

You would be listening to the Bell Fleetnet system to monitor provincial comms
for OPP ,MOH,MNR,MTO . There is a tower located in Toronto for coverage.

You need to set up your scanner for VHF trunking , which will require , BASE freq.,offset and spacing before you enter the tower site freq.

Review Mike Oxlong's instructions for BCD 996T programming for Fleetnet.

Are you thinking TORONTO-DOWNSVIEW OPP (they control the highways 401 400 427 etc etc?
Yes they are on the Bell Fleetnet

They can be programmed with no problem into your 996T.
The only special info needed is the BANDPLAN needs to be set....

See this thread for some help to program in Fleetnet.. although its more made for the 396 you can get helpfull/general ideas.
