Just wondering what "SS" stands for for the TPS. I recently heard dispatch refer to having "SS" info on file for someone they were looking for.

For those of us south of the border, what is TPS ?
And SS could be Social Security #, since many of our fools go up your way.

CPIC does have SS info in it....

TPS = Toronto Police Service (Moto SysID 3c08 and related conventional).

Ya...but the context was almost a warning to the officer that there was "SS" info on the hit for the license plate look up for the person in question. I guess it could be that they were being investigated and that the Staff had put notes on the system.....?!

Could it be something like "Security Services" "Secure Survellance" or "Special Survellance".

For example, there was someone being run in 31 div this evening and the dispatcher asked the constable if he was in ear shot of the person. When he signaled that he was out of earshot she told him that he was under survellance and that they should make note of the contact, the vehicle, and the vitals for anyone with him, and relay it to someone (didn't get who or where).

Then again it could be something really pedestrian like "Stupid SOB";-)

I would have to guess it would be "special status". There is a status on the person in query, perhaps flagged for something, or a related note on the file in question. Anything from violent, to crime, to lost to anything else. It could be a status pending, or one current, related to CPIC, or NCIC, or RMS, but has a specific status note, instead of just the normal general code for a status as in a CNI on a person.

As answered previously...

"SS" is actually "SAS", but it dosen't usually come across as such. SAS = Special Address Status

It's basically information that's relavent to the safety of an officer.

For example - if the police attended in the past and you tried to fight them - that'd go into the SS info.

Or, CFRO information (IE, weapons at the address), or whatever. It's basically a comment field that anything can be put in, should officer safety warrant it.
