Considering all those frequencies are licenced to Telus, I don't think so.

Well, we did see a few Telus guys in a parking lot in K/W last night, trucks loaded with antennas. Maybe they're taking over the PS business!!

Some frequencies for Orangeville would be super nice.

No i wondered if they where the ones setting it up for Orangeville.. Yea well their saying its encrypted but if you listen to P25 on a analog scanner it would sound encrypted.. Thats why i am asking. No one has or posted any trunk freq yet so its still up in the air.. Any one want to suggest how one can find the trunk frequencies up their and i will run up their with my 396... Close Call work getting trunk numbers?

I totally doubt they will be trunked or even large enough to warrant a trunking system. Try the old conventional frequencies, 142.8300 for Orangeville and 142.5450 which was Shelburne. Both of these channels where simulcasted with each other when they where analog.

Better check the Emission Type, which is W7W. That means it
is part of the MiKE (iDEN) network...nothing to do with the PD.

Actually, I think HE ruled it out for you...

You can safely assume that Orangeville is on its same old VHF frequencies for police and fire, at least until someone comes up with some new information.

How exactly is it a waste of technology? Analog is old and outdated. Digital (especially with encrption) provides greater security, increased range, and a whole host of extra features.

That and, in my opinion, digital audio sounds superior to analog.

It doesnt sound so superior when its encrypted. I'm commenting on the service in question as a monitoring hobbiest and nothing more. With encrypt, its just another spare channel for the radio. The hijinks on that freq could be quite entertaining.

Cheers

Using encryption on a digital system doesn't take away from audio quality at all - it sounds exactly the same to the end user. If you mean on a scanner than yes, you're correct - it sounds awful :)

How was the Orangeville channel confirmed Digital and encrypted? What did you use to confirm this or was this word of mouth?

How do you configure on the 396 to get a convectional channel to get P25? I wasn't aware the 396 could do this? I thought it would only work in trunking mode? Meaning a Uniden would Not receive digital in a conventional format.
