Hey, i think this might be the subject of a few other threads, so I apologize if this is a re-run.

I have a 246t, and its reception of analog fleetnet sucks. Of course, I'm just using the ducky out of the box....

Is there another type of antenna (preferably something fairly low key, not something I'll have to mount somewhere) that could boost the reception?

Thanks

This is a matter of personal taste really.. If you want a stubby the best one to grab is the Miracle Baby by Comet ( CH-32) or my personal favorite is the Seeker 800mhz and it works well on Fleetnet but is bulky... Check out this page for some help as to what one will be best for you.. I also use a Pryme antenna (RD-9 SMA) and is excellent ...

Is it the reception or the audio quality? The 246T doesn't allow VHF frequencies to be recieved NFM (Fleetnet) so the audio quality isn't as good as it would be on a 396T, for example.

Short answer for your antenna question: buy a VHF antenna.
