Would that be EnerSource ? I found some conventional freqs, but got hits on them. Looking at the Peel system, I don't see any reference to Miss Hydro only Brampton and Caledon Hydro. Do they have radios ? Or have they gone the MDT or MWS route ?

The City of Mississauga contracts Ensource out for Hydro work. IC's website comes up with the following.

-169.4700
-169.8600
-172.1700
-410.6875 + 5mhz for TX
-414.6875 + 5mhz for TX
-451.1875
-451.6625
-453.4500

Thanks, but those are the exact same freqs I have in my radio from IC.

Well, I had them plugged in for about 3 weeks and didn't hear anything that sounded like hydro talk...hold off, surrender, energize, nomenclature... I did hear some voice but didn't sound like hydro. In fact, very little comms. I thought I heard some data busts also. Maybe I'll give 'em another try in the future.

Ensource-Miss Hydro Confirmed

I have confirmed Ensource-Mississauga Hydro radio frequencies.

They are using the Action Wireless 900mhz Edacs system. (Digital and or Encryption)
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=4669

LCN
1-937.3500
2-937.4750
3-938.1000-CC
4-938.7250
5-939.3750

I will follow up soon with the talkgroups they use.

The downside to all this, is that we cannot monitor their radio comms.....

Well... not everyone can.

Fortunatly, 900MHz ProVoice radios are a dime a dozen.

This is true, good point.

The radio's I have seen them use are GE Edacs Orions Mobiles and LPE-200 Portables.

Why not? Pro Voice is pretty decent, audio wise, and purchase price isn't much more than analog. Action also has several thousand digital radios available to rent.

Now that I'm not typing on my phone...

Action Radio has a very large inventory of 900MHz LPE200 radios, mostly ProVoice, some with encryption as well.

Their subscriber base is next to nothing on any of the 3 EDACS systems in the Toronto area (40 Pleasant, 3380 Eglinton East and 3650 Kaneff), so they have a LOT of radios and capacity. They could have easily offered Enersource access on the Kaneff site and as many radios as needed (they have well over 3000 in inventory), with very little cost to either Enersource or Action Radio. The company is already operating on a shoe-string income, so any money is good money.
