Anyone know why a trunked system, when programmed properly, would lock up on the control channel while in ID search mode? It's an 898.

Thanks in advance,

ES

Which system are you referring to, and the system type?
Is it VHF/UHF, or 800/900MHz?

Also, what dou you mean by "lock up"? It is normal for
the scanner to lock to and EDACS or Moto CC but you should
not hear it.

It's VHF, sticking to the CC for Sunderland Tower on Zone 1 of FLeetnet on both scan and search modes.

I realize that is normal, but this is not. It literally locks onto the frequency.

Thanks for you help,

ES

Well, you say it's programmed correctly, but it doesn't sound like it. Incorrect bandplan programming could lead to your symptoms. Landing on another site's control channel could also do it. What exactly shows up on the display when this happens?

Sounds like some or all frequencies were programmed in conventional
mode, but should have been in trunked mode. I don't know exact details
of the 898 but believe it's a souped-up 895, so probably similar programming...
press/hold TRUNK until it beeps twice, select the bank to program, and enter
frequencies.

Hmmm...maybe it was programmed in conventional, I'll have to check. I'm actually inquiring on behalf of a friend.
When I checked it out, I checked to ensure the bandplan was put in right, which it was. But the CC may have been put in conv somehow.

Thanks for the help,

Cheers,

I bet if you check the system mode it is set to fm or vhf instead of MOT(motorola). All channels need to be set to MOT.
