They were heard on the Toronto 1 system last summer (2006). I posted the talkgroup on here somewhere in the past...no idea if they are still there or not.

Seems to be different spellings for these groups. Search of TAFL for
Hatzoloh Toronto shows a repeater on 451.4375 (NB), but it's Status 0
which means "pending" so may not be active yet. Repeater output looks
to be about 15W.

A group in Montreal shows up when Hatzolah is searched.

I vaguely recall seeing a Type II Moto TG on a Toronto system, don't
recall but may be in the database, or in a forum thread.

Idle question, but would they likely speak Yiddish or Hebrew (not that
I understand either) or English?

Quick search on the system:

Hatzoloh Toronto DEC: 50640 HEX: C5D
Running off the Fleetcom 900MHz Type II system.

Oh and they speak English :-D

Yiddish?
Thats funny.

My first 'girlfriends' father was kinda in charge of the Montreal unit, that was over 25 yrs ago.

I lived on or near Bathurst Street for close to 10 yrs and never even knew about this ems responder.
Never saw 'em.
Are they active?

It may be comforting when someone calls the dispatcher and is able to speak in their own language which may save precious minutes describing the emergency. I was also wondering what Hatzoloh means and found this http://www.milon.co.il/general/general.php?term=hatzoloh as DaveH pointed out, there seems to be various spellings for this word.

...hmmm....Maybe they oughta do something like this in Little Italy !

PATIENT: I think my leg is broken, it really hurts !
.........thinking it may have been an unfinished hit job............
ALDO: Hey Vito, I ting we gatta finisha da jobba.

Nothing like having a couple of gumbas pulling up on scene, rolling you up in a carpet and puttting you in the trunk of a 70s Caddy !!!!!!!!!!!! lol lol.....

......muffled sound of patients voice.....

You're taking me to the hospital, right ???

There are Hatzalah groups all over the globe. The idea started in NYC in the 70s. Most recently a Hatzalah branch opened in Baltimore, Maryland last year. Thanks for all the help guys.

http://www.hatzolohtoronto.ca : We complement Toronto's ambulance service with rapid, high-quality, non-transport care within minutes of being dispatched. Hatzoloh Toronto also ensures that 911 has been called.

---

While the responders are on their way, the dispatcher then contacts 911 to advise them of the need for an ambulance. It is important to be aware that Hatzoloh Toronto complements Toronto's ambulance service, and works alongside them to provide the most advanced care possible.

(flame suit on) So basically they're l33t officially-recognized whackers.

Watch the video! ARES, dream on!!! They even have red phones! :) But I'm disappointed they don't have strobes and lightbars on their vehicles.

And yes they are definately active. I've seen them with Toronto EMS.
