Help programming the pro 97 with london ambulance
I got a new (new to me at least) Pro 97. The Bell Fleetnet - Ontario Provincial Government Zone 1 System for london ambulance is giving me trouble.. I have the Uniden 780xlt which is a dream to program, and I get it to work there fine. Can I listen to these channels on my new(er) scanner? Can someone point me into the right direction? I bought this one for the portability. I needed a handheld and this one came up cheap.. please help... thanks

Yep the Pro-97 should work ok for you. Have a look at this link: Easier to Read Pro-97/2055 Scanner Manual and hopefully that will help you out. Basically you need to setup a bank for Motorola Type II trunking, then enter the bandplan details (spacing, offset etc etc). Essentially the same as what you did in your 780.

No problem! I have a Pro-96 which I imagine programs fairly similar to the Pro-97. I can likely step you thru it in a little more detail if needed.

Did you set the fleetmap? LFD uses Type I talkgroups so you will need to enter the fleetmap.

Do you happen to have a programming cable for your Pro-97? It can be much easier to do with software instead of by hand...
Have you taken a look at this thread? http://www.radioreference.com/forums...-fleetnet.html
If the Pro-97 programs the same as the Pro-96 (should be pretty close at least) then the steps I listed at the top of that thread should get you going for EMS on Fleetnet. Once you get it running you will need to lock out the digital talkgroups as they become active.
As for London Fire I can step you thru that one once I get home and have my radio in front of me as a reference.

Thanks, I have entered all the correct info finally for the ambulance.. Its the fire dept I am now having issues with.. I have entered the system fleetmaps, 00 00 03 00 00 and so on. they are all stored, but i think i am missing something, because i still dont get the tones for any alarms. I only get the conventional channels.. any help would save me some hair. lol

Hmmm ok.... Umm. Both the bank and channels are set to MOT? You have all 3 trunked channels entered? (860.2375, 860.4875 and 860.7375). If you park manually park on 860.4875 or 860.7375 you should be able to hear the control channel (it's always on one of those two frequencies). When scanning, does the radio pause on the control channel at all? Oh, and is the bank you are using in open or closed mode? If it's closed, make sure you have the proper talkgroups stored (200-01 for Dispatch etc etc). Do you hear any traffic at all, or is everything quiet while your 780 is yakking away?
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll be able to help you better once I have my radio in my hands to play with.
