Default How many Systems in your 246 ?

How many Systems have you programed into your 246 ? The owners manual says up to 200 systems. Someone told me "Only 10 Systems". This person pointed to the display and showed me "SYS 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0. You can only program 10 Systems". I told this person "200 Systems according to the owners manual". Person looked at me as if I was wrong. I almost bought a 246 today, but the only one they had left, had been taken out of the box, programmed to another persons specs, but had not come in to pick it up. The box was also damaged. I refused it, and will wait for their next shipment. I would like to monitor Toronto Public Safety, which shows four Sites (001-004), each site is a System. Does this mean I have only six remaining Systems for programming ? Who's right: Me with 200 or Person with 10 ???

neither.
A 246 will hold more than 10 systems provided that the systems are not huge.
I have about 15 in mine.
Each trunk system can hold about 200 t/g's I think and I think thats what youre guy met.

the idea is dynamic memory, and it can hold upto 200 systems. if each system is not very large, the scanner can do 200 systems. if you max out the memory with TGIDs and alpha tags, you may do less than 200 systems. most users won't use 200 systems, I had about a dozen in mine.

The 1234567890 are systems you saw are just the the quickeys to access a system. Assign multiple systems the same quickey, and you'll be able to recall more than 10 systems.

pathologigal,

What has been said above about multiple systems is correct in that you can have as many systems as the memory will allow.

In system quick key 1 you could assign all toronto public safety towers, the toronto ems edacs, toronto conventonal, and toronto fleetnet if you choose.

this leaves you 9 additional system quick access keys.

if you are familiar with older style scanners, all these sysems would be activated/de-activated by the assigned quick key.

if you travel lots you can also set an assigned system on a quick key to be locked out, and activate it only when needed from the program menu, or by quick scrolling systems and using the lockout key.

hope this helps clear up your misconceptions. personally the 246t is the best trunk tracker i have ever used.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I knew I was right. What I think this person was doing, was assigning one system to each quick key...Sys 1 to QK 1, Sys 2 to QK 2 etc until Sys 10, resulting in no more room for Sys 11, 12 and so on. Listening to my Pro-46 for 12 years, I don't think I'll be adding many alpha tags (at least for conventional freqs), I already know who's who by their freqs and/or the sound of their voices.

I have 30 some odd systems in my 246, including some large ones like Toronto Public Safety. And I'm just at a little over 50% memory useage

Forts, you must use very little text for those 30 banks.
