Default Unknown talkgroup threads

I know that some of you disagree with the policy towards talkgroup submissions that are unknown or unidentified.

What some other geographic areas have done is create stickied threads for major systems where users can post unknowns with the hope that other users can help identify them.

I would propose that at the very least, separate sticked threads be started for the individual Fleetnet zones.

We could also create geographically based threads for other areas where unidentified talkgroups are found. The Ottawa area seems to be a good candidate for such a thread or at least, a thread for all the TimeMCI systems and perhaps one for the C&W/ActionRF systems.

I would prefer these threads be limited to unknown talkgroups and not general discussion/questions about the systems. Those topics can be kept as separate unsticked threads. In this way, users would have a thread they can refer to without having to sort through all sorts of "chaff" that doesn't belong.

What does everyone think?

Default Good Idea

Sounds reasonable....since I recently purchased a BC296D, I'm sure there will be some TG's I'd like to identify...

Good suggestion.
I have two Fleetnet talkgroups that I'm wondering about.
One was heard on Primrose, the other on Mississauga.
When you open up the sticky thread , I'll submit them for others to review.

I think the sticky thread is a good idea. For practical purposes it would be good
to limit the number of threads to the fewest possible...some forums have a lot
of stickies floating at the top and it makes them harder to use. For starts,
Fleetnet Zone 1 and 2 would do (3 later). As far as commercial systems, no
need for too many; some people will no doubt want one for "their" system
but that could get unwieldy.

I was going to suggest a separate forum for these "stickies" but this could
lead to a large increase in the number of forums, if it catches on; probably
not a great thing to manage.

One of the systems I periodically run trunker on is the Hamilton Police Moto2 digital system...as I've never seen any unencrypted comms on this system I've submitted one unidentified tg that I've found for the sake of completion.

I assume encrypted talkgroups on systems are outside the purvey of this new policy? A good policy, by the way.
