Default Mississauga/Caledon Fire Pager?

What type of pager would be required to listen to Mississauga/Caledon Fire
156.15000 B Dispatch (alphanumeric paging) FM

Anyone have any input? Could that work on the Tone Out on a 396 or 330? If so what would the settings be?

Thanks

I am interested in this as well.A lot of info gets sent to their pagers.Can we somehow recieve this ? or just the alert tones ? Will the 396T display this info ?

The tones only wouldn't be much use to me,as I usually have one scanner sitting on the dispatch channel anyways.I would like to get the info though,so I have a hard copy of anything in case I miss something.

Can this pager info be decoded somehow with a computer ? Do they use the same frequencies as the normal trunking system,or is it a separate system ?

I'm interested in Brampton,Miss,and Toronto fire stuff.Anyone who can set me up with this info ? or is it unobtainable ?

Default Mississauga/Caledon Fire Pager?

There pagers are Pocsag.

With a discriminator tap done to a scanner and with one of a few different freeware software out there, you can decode all the dispatch info for Miss,Brampton,Caledon Fire.

The same goes for Toronto EMS and TTC pagers.

Freeware= PDW, Winflex

Do you know what frequencies they use for paging ? How do I decipher what info is supposed to go to what pagers,or does the software do that ?

Thanks for the info !

Is it possible to buy a pager and have it cloned to their frequency?

There aren't "A" and "B" tones for these pagers. "A" and "B" tones are for voice paging. Toronto EMS and Caledon Fire don't use voice pagers, they use alphanumeric pagers. There's no scanner on the market that can decode these pages (notwithstanding the fact that it's illegal in Canada). You'd need a program such as WinFlex, POC32, POCFLEX, PDW or the like.

Speaking of which, the frequencies for Toronto EMS (164.8200 and 167.1000) have gone silent, and aren't even licensed to where they used to be. There used to be a lot of paging gear ontop of a building near Yonge and Redpatch, but that's all gone. Anyone have an idea where they went? My guess would be that they stayed on POCSAG instead of going to Flex, because POCSAG is a lot more tolerant to noise so there'd be less of a chance of a false page, or incomplete page.

Any idea what frequency Niagara Falls FD uses for paging?

As useful as voice paging is, alphanumeric is much more practical as there's no second guessing where you are going, and what for. It would be great to see a combination alpha and voice pager. The "beep beep beep" of an alphanumeric isn't always enough to wake you up, but the siren like beeping of a Minitor however, certainly is.

150.545 MHZ sometimes there is voice put mostly alfanumeric. Iam a volunteer firefighter in the falls and believe me, the Minitors are a much better pager.

Yes it would, as long as you got the VHF model.

Also, ALL of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon fire calls are paged out on that frequency, not just Caledon.

Since you only have 4 cap codes with that pager, you're limited as to what pages you can watch.

Just to get this right.....

If I buy the VHF model from EBAY as listed in the above link I can hand program it to monitor any station i want in Mississauga Fire? How would you get the programming info ie: capcodes to do this?

I am interested in buying as well but can only be shipped via UPS (2 day delivery only @ $56.72) which means The cost will be $135.72 usd includes shipping + customs which i am figuring to be $45.. Will be looking at a $200+ for a pager thats still may or may not do the job correctly and or limited... Maybe Exkalibur can explain it to us better before we drop $$$ on it...

Well, if the pager is limited to 4 capcodes, that means you can only have it decode 4 individual pagers. Each pager is assigned a different capcode. If in the case of Caledon, all the volunteers have the same capcode, then you'd only need to program it with that one. I'm not certain what that capcode is though.

As for the Mississauga and Brampton stuff, the capcodes seem to make sense.

For example, a call with Pump 115, Squad 107 and Aerial 115 being dispatched has the call dispatched to 3 capcodes: 107003, 115001, 115002.

So, it seems the first 3 numbers is the station and the last number determines the type of vehicle. It looks like the numbering is as follows:

1 = Pumper
2 = Aerial
3 = Squad/Rescue
4 = Car

So, for example if you wanted to be alerted to all calls for Station 106 (Dixie)... They have 2 trucks, Pump 106 and Aerial 106. You would need to program your pager with 2 capcodes: 106001 and 106002.

I haven't figured out the capcodes for Platoon Chiefs, District Chiefs, Air/Light or Haz units however.

There doesn't seem to be a pager out that that would let you decode every page, or a block of capcodes so the usefulness of an actual pager is limited, unless you only care about one or two stations.
