Who needs stores when you can buy everything on the internet and never have to leave the house.

Maybe any improvement (if there is any) has come too little, too late to save many businesses.

Those Internet stores are actual businesses that employ actual people.

Unless your management, if your working retail, your working and still need the government teat.

Those low paying, part time jobs still qualify you for food stamps

it's called a changing economy. business needs to change with the times to stay in business. what we need a federal VAT here like Europe has and a flat rate income tax structure on all income that is above the federal (currently $11,200US) poverty level. you can still have write offs for charitable donations up to a certain percentage of income to encourage charitable donations but that should be the only tax loop hole allowed and the payroll tax should be extended upward not increased.

when will the left and the right both wake up and realize this?

Oh, I think they know. There are too many negative consequences to doing it though.

If they do the flat tax;

How do they reward their friends when they are no longer able to hand them a tax loophole(give them their own money)?

How do they reward their campain and super pac contibuters?

How do they control which business' have the upperhand if they cannot give breaks and subsidies to one while fully taxing and regulating the other?

How can they give incentives to buy support for some laws and punish those that go against them?

These are just a few questions that need answers before something like a flat tax has a chance to be implemented.
